NOTICE TO HARBISON ROAD RESIDENTS
RE: Harbison Road Reconstruction Project
Dear Harbison Road Resident:
Cedarville Township, in cooperation with the Greene County Engineer’s Office and Miami Township, will be reconstructing and widening Harbison Road this fall. We are providing this notice so residents can plan for the construction and understand what to expect during the project.
Construction Schedule
Work is currently expected to begin with improvements to residential driveways on October 12, 2026. The actual road reconstruction is expected to begin on October 19, 2026.
Beginning October 19, Harbison Road will be closed to through traffic. Local traffic will be maintained so residents can continue to access their homes, although there will be times when access may be temporarily restricted. The project is currently expected to take approximately five weeks, although the schedule may chang due to weather, site conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Driveway Access
As crews work along the road, there may be periods of approximately 2–3 hours when your driveway is inaccessible while construction crews are working directly in front of your property. Crews will make every effort to provide access whenever possible and minimize the amount of time residents are unable to enter or leave their driveways. Because the road is being widened, some concrete driveways that currently extend to the edge of the existing roadway may need to be cut back to accommodate the new road. Any affected driveways will be repaired as part of the project after the road reconstruction is completed and the new asphalt has been installed.
Mailboxes
The road widening may require some mailboxes to be relocated. The contractor will make every effort to avoid moving mailboxes whenever possible. If your mailbox does need to be relocated, our current expectation is that the existing mailbox will be left on your property and replaced with either a 4x4 wooden post or a 2-inch steel post with a basic mailbox.
As a precaution, we recommend that residents remove any decorative items or personal items attached to or around their mailbox before construction begins. While every effort will be made to preserve these items, the construction work may require them to be removed or relocated. We anticipate that mail delivery will continue during construction. However, decisions regarding mail delivery and any temporary changes to service will be made by the U.S. Postal Service and the local postmaster.
School Bus Service
The school district will notify residents of any changes to school bus routes or stops that may be necessary during construction.
Emergency Services
Road construction will be coordinated with Fire and EMS. Emergency responders will be kept informed of the construction and will be aware of the appropriate routes for reaching residences along Harbison Road if emergency assistance is needed.
